The growing interest in psychedelic therapy has brought renewed attention to the idea of integration, or how to make what was learned in the psychedelic journey something real, relevant, and usable in the person’s life. This distinction is important because psychedelic experiences can offer moments of extraordinary clarity. Over the years, I have found myself asking different questions than many people expect after a psychedelic experience. Although I am writing here about psychedelic experiences, I believe this understanding extends well beyond them. Ultimately, integration is not measured by how vividly we remember a psychedelic journey or how eloquently we describe it, although they may be important parts of the process.
