Hyperwear, the brand behind the Hyper Vest weighted vest, Hyper Ruck, and SandBell training tools, hired Kristen M. Beavers, PhD, MPH, RD, as its first science advisor. Beavers is a researcher whose work spans metabolic health, physical function, aging, body composition, nutrition, and exercise science. In her advisory role, she reportedly provide “outside scientific guidance to support Hyperwear’s product development and education around loaded movement, weighted vests, rucking, nutrition, aging, and the company’s Metabolic Strength mission.” Hyperwear also said “academic research has examined weighted vest use in older adults undergoing intentional weight loss, including studies focused on bone health, muscle, physical function, and activity behavior. Hyperwear plans to use its science platform to help consumers, coaches, clinicians, and wellness audiences better understand loaded movement and metabolic health in context.”
