Kohima, July 27 (MExN): The Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) on July 27 urged the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) to immediately repair road stretches damaged by potholes, subsidence and landslides along National Highway-29.
In an open appeal, the organisation expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of road stretches at Kezanu (old KMC dumping site), Liezocha, the Bypass Petrol Pump area and the landslide-hit stretch at Melierü near Dzüdza village.
It said large potholes, cracks and uneven road surfaces have developed, posing serious risks to motorists and commuters.
WAPO said it hoped the authorities would respond promptly to safeguard public safety and maintain connectivity.
However, it cautioned that if remedial measures were not taken, the organisation may be compelled to initiate appropriate action in the interest of public safety and welfare.
