Alberta’s police watchdog is investigating a fatal shooting by a Brooks RCMP officer earlier this month. When police arrived, the door was answered by another person, who told officers the man they were looking for was inside. But after seeing the officers, the man left through a side door and ran toward a nearby alley, said ASIRT. In an alley, the officer told the man to drop a knife he was holding. “The man ran towards the officer and, in the incident that followed, the officer fired their gun and struck the man,” said ASIRT.
