A report on Insider Gaming has claimed that a new Far Cry game has now entered development at Vantage Studios, the Tencent-backed Ubisoft subsidiary that is handling many of the company’s major IPs. According to the report, the new Far Cry project is known as Kodiak, and is described as an open-world FPS where “player interactions and player-driven stories take centre stage.” Sources have told the site that this new Far Cry project is “really ambitious” and is still several years away from seeing the light of day. While nothing has been announced by Ubisoft regarding this new Far Cry project, Ubisoft chief Yves Guillemot revealed back in February this year that “two very promising projects” in the Far Cry series were in development. Back in December 2024, Insider Gaming revealed that Far Cry 7 and Project Maverick were both in the pipeline but had been delayed internally to 2026.
