Ehly: UO needs to stop interfering with student workers’ right to organize

Sofia Campbell/EmeraldIn my time at UO, I’ve walked past more Graduate Teaching Fellows Federation and UO Student Workers Union rallies than I can count. The GTFF and UOSW have been active in advocating for the rights of graduate and undergraduate student workers since 1975 and 2023, respectively. In an email statement, UO Spokesperson Angela Seydel shared that the Board found that UO broke one provision of the PECBA. That are two separate labor law violations confirmed against UO within a year on the basis of interfering with student employees’ right to organize on campus. Correction: The article previously stated that UO Spokesperson Angela Seydel “notes that the university only broke one provision of PECBA.”
