The educational meetings will explain changes made to the federal program, including newly eligible geographic areas and expanded access for individuals affected by radioactive fallout from Cold War-era nuclear testing and uranium industry activities. Attendees will have an opportunity to:Learn about the reinstated and expanded RECA program. Individuals who have completed an application may also schedule a one-on-one review appointment to ensure documents are complete before submission. The term "downwinder" refers to individuals who were exposed to radioactive fallout from atmospheric nuclear testing conducted at the Nevada Test Site. Under the reinstated law, eligible individuals may qualify for compensation through the federal RECA program.
