It’s still unclear whether the former Near North District School Board’s director of education repaid credit card expenses charged by a family member for personal use. Neither the Ministry of Education nor the school board has confirmed whether the funds have been repaid, how much was charged, who charged it and what was charged to taxpayers. Former Director of Education Craig Myles came under fire last fall when the Ministry of Education took over the city’s largest school board following a scathing report. The report identified several issues, including “on at least two occasions, the director’s corporate card was used by a family member for personal use.” The review was announced following media reports and concerns raised by parents, community members, and trustees about governance dysfunction at the school board.
