RNZ review by Dominic CorryThere is of course no better way to express support for local filmmaking than by seeing local movies in theatres, and there are few environments more conducive to enriching that experience than the New Zealand International Film Festival. The implied extra goodwill that comes with attending a festival showing of a film – especially a New Zealand film – just adds something to the atmosphere. The willingness of the traditionally more-open minded festival audience can be felt in the air and only enhances a film’s chances of being embraced. But the film really started getting attention last month when Kristen Stewart awarded Schneideman the Grand Prix at the Biarritz Film Festival last month. The New Zealand International Film Festival opens in Wellington on August 12.
