Trusted Mac apps could possibly be swapped out for malware

If they don't already come installed on the Mac, macOS apps are either downloaded from the Mac App Store, or from developers' websites.
For one thing, no apps downloaded from the Mac App Store are vulnerable to it.
How to protect yourself against this vulnerabilityYou could solely use apps you've got from the Mac App Store.
The upshot is that this workaround simply can't be used on Mac App Store apps.
That's not especially practical, given how most Mac apps are not available on the store.
