Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) is expanding its tools for the emerging agentic economy, with a particular focus on allowing businesses to receive payments from autonomous AI systems. In an official update, the company outlined three coordinated releases aimed at businesses, individual users, and developers.Starting this week, Coinbase Business customers can accept USDC payments from AI agents. The capability runs on Coinbase Payments infrastructure and includes native support for x402, an open payment standard designed for internet-native, pay-per-use transactions. Coinbase noted that traditional payment systems were built around the assumption of a human clicking a button. Coinbase Business is being positioned to support that shift.For individual users,Coinbase is enhancing Coinbase for Agents, its tool that connects AI agents to Coinbase accounts via MCP and CLI interfaces.
