The Warriors made an attempt to acquire Anthony Davis from the Wizards, believing their chances of signing LeBron James would improve if they added his former Lakers teammate and fellow Klutch Sports client, sources tell Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. However, a team source described Washington’s asking price as “unreasonable,” and the talks never progressed past the initial contact. Siegel also hears that Golden State reached out to the Celtics regarding Jaylen Brown, but Boston’s front office had no interest in any of the Warriors’ trade assets and refused to listen to any offers. Siegel adds that Golden State would have been willing to part with Jimmy Butler, whom they’ve preferred to keep out of trade discussions, along with draft capital to acquire Davis or Brown.
