That is exactly what the Oakland County Sheriff Department deputies used to rescue children from a house that was on fire and two children were trapped in an upstairs bedroom with heavy smoke. One deputy reached up as each child climbed out of the window and was able to secure them and hand them off to another waiting deputy safely on the ground. Instead of standing around waiting for the firemen to arrive, the Sheriff deputies improvised and jumped into action.
