White shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs in some southern states have been recalled due to the possibility of salmonella contamination. Egg producer Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. (now MPS Egg Farms) voluntarily recalled 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs produced in Texas because of Salmonella Enteritidis. No other MPS Egg Farms products are part of the recall, the company states. The recalled eggs have a code number printed on the left or right side of the carton in date-coding ink.
