“Being chronically ill. In teen movies, they play it off as an experience where, if you don't die, you will meet the love of your life or be in a quirky relationship with others because your sickness makes you special and inspires other sick people like you. But in reality, you are just sick, that is all, and no romance in the hospital hallways or during your treatments. You are just sick, you feel awful, and the last thing on your mind is ‘does this hospital gown make me look cute?’”
