I want to thank Fraser and all the towns and water districts that have stepped up to respond to the Stage 3 Extreme Drought that we have been in since October 2025. This is the second-highest level of drought measured by the U.S. Drought Monitor, and it looks like we could be in it for a while. In fact, although Grand County’s drought scale only goes to Stage 3, our region of north-central Colorado has been in Stage 4 Exceptional Drought since March, which is the highest level on the national scale. I also want to thank restaurants like Fontenot’s in Winter Park that recognize how serious this drought is and are making adjustments to reduce water use. While Fraser is moving in the right direction, the Grand County Drought Preparedness Plan asks that we do even more at this level of drought.
