In the first seven months of 2026, Summit Lost Pet Rescue says they have seen a substantial increase in calls regarding lost pets, leaving the nonprofit organization on track to have their busiest year on record.
Davis said the organization has received 288 rescue calls between Jan. 1 and July 23, just shy of the 306 calls that Summit Lost Pet Rescue received in the entire year in 2025.
“Some of them are lost calls, whether it’s a lost dog or a lost cat.
People have called from as far away as Texas and Canada asking for Summit Lost Pet Rescue’s services.
Brandon Ciullo, the other co-founder of Summit Lost Pet Rescue, said another factor playing into the organization’s high call volume is the county’s lively tourism industry, coupled with its proximity to Interstate 70.
