Riyadh – Saudi Arabia confirmed Saturday that its forces carried out airstrikes targeting Houthi military sites in Yemen’s port city of Hodeidah, saying the positions were linked to threats against commercial shipping in the Red Sea. In a statement, the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition stressed that “no strikes targeted Hodeidah port” and that “all Yemeni ports remain open to maritime navigation. The statement added that the response to Houthi attacks was conducted in line with the principle of proportionality and achieved its planned operational objectives. Local sources in Hodeidah reported strikes on a Houthi operations site in the Al‑Kathib area, while another raid hit a building belonging to Yemen’s telecommunications company near the eastern gate of the port. Houthi media claimed a series of attacks also struck communications facilities and other targets on Kamaran Island.
