Mokokchung, July 25 (MExN): The Mokokchung district administration has stepped up relief and restoration measures after incessant rainfall and thunderstorms triggered floods and multiple landslides across the district, severely disrupting road, power and telecommunication networks. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) immediately launched relief operations and evacuated affected residents to safer locations. According to the administration, relief materials have been distributed to displaced families, while relief camps have been established to accommodate those affected. The administration said National Highway-2, connecting Mokokchung to Amguri via Tuli, has suffered extensive damage due to landslides at multiple locations. Meanwhile, National Highway-702D connecting Mokokchung and Mariani has become the district's only functional road link for passenger movement and transportation of essential commodities following the closure of NH-2.
