SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting with Camp Directors and senior civil, police and security officials to review repair and restoration work along the Shri Amarnathji Yatra routes following recent heavy rainfall, directing agencies to expedite works in vulnerable stretches and strengthen safety measures for pilgrims.
The meeting reviewed the condition of the Yatra tracks and assessed damage caused to pathways, safety railings and other essential infrastructure.
The Lieutenant Governor instructed the executing agencies to accord top priority to restoring areas susceptible to mudslides and shooting stones to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims.
Emphasising pilgrim safety, Sinha directed the deployment of additional Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) along the Yatra routes and asked officials to proactively disseminate real-time weather updates to Yatris to help them plan their movement.
He also instructed the administration to ensure uninterrupted essential services, including electricity, drinking water, communication facilities and healthcare, throughout the pilgrimage.
