TESCO bosses say demolition of the upper car park at their Greenock store will not lead to a lengthy closure of the supermarket, according to local MP Martin McCluskey. The taxi rank in the car park would be maintained, though it would have to move during the construction phase. Mr McCluskey added: “I also discussed how they could improve walking routes through the car park to better connect the waterfront to the town centre. “This is a welcome investment in Greenock town centre from Tesco alongside the investment from the UK Government in the [Central Greenock] regeneration project.” Other aspects of the plan include:— Reconfiguring and resurfacing the surface-level car park.
