A man and his wife were hacked to death allegedly by their son in their house in Anwara upazila of Chattogram today. The deceased were identified as Swapan Das Gupta, 65, and his wife, Kalpana Das, 50, residents of the Purba Gujra area under Haildhar union, police said. Police arrested the couple's only son, Romeo Das Gupta, 30, in connection with the incident. At around 1:00pm, Romeo allegedly hacked his mother and slit her throat, killing her on the spot. Hearing screams, local residents rushed to the house and rescued Swapan, but he died from his injuries on the way to the hospital.
