Northern Ireland’s growing screen industry has brought some of television’s most recognisable stars here in recent months. This week, I visited the set of a forthcoming television series being filmed in Belfast. Last year, I visited Temple Props in Templepatrick, where artists Denis Rush and Andrew MacIntyre create props and set pieces for film, television and public attractions. It was a striking example of the creativity, technical ability and problem-solving that exists throughout Northern Ireland’s film and television workforce. Denis and Andrew described film and television work as “feast or famine”, with busy periods often followed by quieter spells which force local businesses and freelancers to diversify.
