At least 6,106 Killed in Iraq during JanuaryUpdated at 9:39 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2015January closed out with 293 deaths and 289 wounded.
According to the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, 1,375 people were killed during January, including 790 civilians.
Combining the higher wounded number reported by U.N. representatives in Iraq and those discovered by Antiwar.com, the January casualty figures are 6,106 and 2,240.
The casualties figures among the Islamic State militants are unknown and mostly provided by the Iraq government.
The full extent of the destruction of Mosul library at the hands of Islamic State militants is slowly being revealed.
