From: @migookhaenyeoLarge sharks are turning up off Korea's east coast far more often this year than last. Where the sightings are happeningMost of the activity has clustered along the East Sea coast between Gangneung and Uljin. On July 4, the Gangneung Coast Guard received reports of a shark east of Anmok Beach, followed by sightings off Gyeongpo Beach the same day. Along the east coast, the April to June average reached 16.3 degrees, up 1.9 degrees from 2025. Beaches along the east coast stay open through late August.
