Christopher Anne Affleck, the mother of Oscar winners Ben and Casey Affleck, has died aged 83. Ms Affleck died “peacefully in her sleep” on June 2 according to her obituary, which has been published in The Boston Globe. Christopher Affleck was the mother of Oscar winner Ben Affleck (Matt Crossick/PA)Ms Affleck was born in New York City in 1942, and graduated from Harvard University and then pursued a 35 year-long career as a public school teacher, before retiring in 2008. Ms Affleck was married to Timothy Affleck and they welcomed their sons Ben and Casey in 1972 and 1975, respectively. Casey Affleck, the youngest son of Christopher Affleck (Ian West/PA)Ms Affleck continued her activism after her retirement, and set out “to both see the world and change it” – having volunteered on the campaign trail for former US president Barack Obama.
