The District of Summerland shared on Friday that, following their CAO's submission of a formal letter recommending refusal of the mine in May, they received a response. "In their reply, the regulatory decision maker has decided to allow public comment on this project," the district said. The Garnet Valley Tourism Association has been leading the public charge against the mine, raising concerns about impacts on infrastructure, the environment, tourism, and geotechnical conditions. Comments need to be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line “Garnet Valley Road Pit” before Aug. 15, 2026.
