The 51-53 Padres took the first game of a pivotal series against a Wild Card competitor in Miami this evening. San Diego is four games back in the Wild Card race. After Miami, the Padres return home for six games against the Rockies (two) and Giants (four) up to the August 3 deadline. Lin writes that the Padres may be more willing to move Morejon than Miller once the deadline arrives. A back-end trio of Miller, Morejon and talented rookie Bradgley Rodriguez is still very difficult to beat.
