The remnants of former Tropical Storm Bertha have moved into northern Mexico. Even yesterday when the storm was in its dying phase, winds gusted over 40 mph at the coast outside Houston. The point is, even though strong winds were not widespread with Bertha, there were intense bands, especially over the water. Remember, the system is a tropical storm if it has a well-defined circulation with non-transient winds of at least 40 mph. Going forward, we'll keep focused on the warm water band from the northern Gulf across Florida and into the Atlantic as the potential storm zone.
