Opinion | Manickam: Freedom of expression and public safety can coexist
['Raj Manickam Letter To The Editor']
Vail Daily
Like many others, I have noticed the individual who regularly stands there holding signs expressing his views on immigration and other issues.
He has every right to peacefully exercise his freedom of speech, and I fully respect that.
The last thing they need is another distraction or an obstructed line of sight at one of the busiest decision points in the intersection.
I sincerely hope someone who knows him will encourage him to choose a safer location before an accident occurs.
We should not have to wait until someone is seriously injured before recognizing that freedom of expression and public safety are not competing values.
