Norfolk's biggest village festival marks 60 years Norfolk's biggest village festival marks 60 yearsThe biggest village festival in Norfolk, which attracts 10,000 visitors every year, marks its 60th anniversary this weekend (July 25-26) and the parish church of St Mary’s is still at its heart. Launched 60 years ago, the festival was started to fund urgent repairs on St Mary the Virgin Church in the centre of the village. The festival was founded in 1965 (with the first festival taking place in July 1966) to raise money to save the extraordinary village church, which was falling into disrepair.
