The “Looking Back, Seeing Now” project allowed local artists to paint live models. “Participation has significantly improved my skill at portraiture, but best of all, I have had the opportunity to work with many outstanding local artists,” Daniel said. Smith offered an approach to learning familiar to many artists: “If it’s not going well, start over. Both artists are members of the Fluvanna Art Association.
