Federal firefighting resources are being stretched thin as dozens of major wildfires burn across the U.S., including more than a half dozen in Colorado .
“Firefighters, engines, aircraft and incident management teams are part of a national system designed to move resources where they are needed most.”
The West is facing historic drought conditions after almost the entire region, including Colorado, experienced record-low snowpack last winter.
All eight of those fires are burning in Colorado.
Already this year, four firefighters have been killed in the line of duty while battling fires in Colorado.
