Srinagar, July 24: Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Friday expressed deep concern over the extensive damage caused by recent heavy rains across Kashmir, particularly in the Beerwah area of Budgam district.
He said the torrential rains and flash floods have caused widespread damage to residential houses, commercial establishments, agricultural land and public infrastructure, leaving several families in distress.
He expressed particular concern over the damage caused to the Shopping Complex in Beerwah and other private properties, saying the losses have severely affected the livelihoods of many people.
Hakeem Yaseen urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to conduct an immediate assessment of the losses and ensure adequate compensation for all affected families.
He also called for the rehabilitation of those whose homes, businesses and other properties have been damaged in the recent rains.
