Srinagar, Jul 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a Selection Committee under Jammu and Kashmir Mental Healthcare (Mental Health Authority) Rules, 2023, to scrutinize nominations and recommend candidates for appointment to Jammu and Kashmir Mental Health Authority. As per an order of the Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, the committee has been constituted under Rule 5 of the Jammu and Kashmir Mental Healthcare (Mental Health Authority) Rules, 2023. It stated that that the Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department, will serve as the Chairperson of the committee. The committee has been tasked to scrutinize professional nominations and applications received for appointments to Mental Health Authority and recommend suitable candidates to the Government. The move comes as part of the implementation of the Jammu and Kashmir Mental Healthcare (Mental Health Authority) Rules, 2023, aimed at strengthening the institutional framework for mental healthcare governance in the Union Territory.
