Like some people I know, Lone Star lies about its age and doesn't ever seem to bring up the fact that it has roots in Mexico. You can thank the geniuses who were running the USA at the time for that chapter in the Lone Star story. Folks usually lie about their age to appear younger, Lone Star does the opposite - they want you to think they're older. The Lone Star brewery was opened in 1884 ... which actually makes it 142, just sayin' ... but it never produced a beer called "Lone Star". The owner of a Mexican based beer company ... Sabinas Brewery, in Sabinas, Mexico ... set up shop in San Antonio and brewed Sabinas beer until 1939.
