Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) on Friday condemned the reported use of excessive force against students during recent protests in New Delhi and other parts of the country, saying such action against unarmed demonstrators raises serious concerns over democratic rights. In a statement, the union said students across India were raising genuine concerns regarding the integrity, transparency and fairness of competitive examinations and recruitment processes, and that responding with force instead of dialogue was "regrettable and unjustifiable". The DNSU said the aspirations and concerns of the youth should be addressed with responsibility and respect rather than suppression. Expressing solidarity with the affected students, the DNSU also conveyed concern for those who sustained injuries during the protests. The union urged the authorities to exercise restraint, prioritise the safety of students and engage in meaningful dialogue to address the issues raised.
