Essex chairman Jason Gallian has announced he will step down from the role after "careful consideration". Gallian had assumed the role on an interim basis last year after predecessor Anu Mohindru resigned when he was found to have lied about studying at the University of Oxford. Gallian will remain on the county's board, with the club to appoint a new chairman at its next board meeting. Gallian's decision to step down from the role was made at Essex's AGM on Monday. "My greatest strength, passion and commitment has always been cricket itself," said Gallian, who finished his playing career at Essex.
