The Head of State also said Pope Leo XIV's visit left the nation with a “lasting message of hope, reconciliation, and solidarity.”
Pope Leo XIV began his maiden African visit on April 13 in Algeria, where his messages were pegged on peace, youth engagement, and the Church’s social mission across Africa.
He then proceeded to Cameroon on April 15, where he emphasized reconciliation and social healing, before travelling to Angola on April 18.
Pope Leo XIV concluded his Apostolic Journey in Africa on April 23 in Equatorial Guinea.
While there, he described the people of God in the Central African nation and across Africa as “salt of the earth and the light of the world,” centred on Christ.
