The Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Yaoundé has challenged young people in Cameroon to become masters of both tradition and modernity instead of allowing themselves to be dominated by either. In his presentation during the July 21-26 National Youth Days (JNJ) in the Catholic Archdiocese of Bertoua, Archbishop Jean Mbarga said young people should reject the false notion that tradition and modernity are opposing forces. “We must neither allow ourselves to be divided by these two worlds nor be crushed by them. It is for us to master both worlds,” Archbishop Mbarga said during his Thursday, July 23 presentation. I have overcome the world” the Cameroonian Archbishop described tradition as a living heritage passed down through generations and modernity as society's effort to renew itself.
