The pride flag displayed outside the North Yarmouth Community Center will be removed following a divided vote by town officials. According to WGME, the flag had been flying at the community center since the beginning of June in recognition of Pride Month. WGME reported that others said the flag should come down now that Pride Month has ended. Town officials also indicated they plan to develop a formal flag policy that could guide future decisions involving banners and flags displayed on public property. For now, the pride flag will be taken down while the town works through those broader questions.
