The Angels once again enter the deadline as clear sellers — this time with a new general manager at the helm. There’s no shortage of needs in the Angels’ system, but their catcher production has been particularly anemic. None would fetch someone like Neto, Soriano or Detmers on his own. It’s worth noting that the Angels aren’t going to pigeonhole themselves into only focusing on young catchers. The Angels aren’t in a position to be too picky, but it’s still notable that a young catcher is at or near the top of the front office’s wish list.
