News ReleaseSOUTH BEND — South Bend International Airport has completed a five-year, $105 million construction project that officials say expands capacity, improves safety and positions the airport for future growth. The project also added a deice pad, upgraded lighting, expanded stormwater systems and replaced asphalt with concrete across more than 20 acres. The upgrades come as South Bend sees strong passenger growth. Through July, traffic rose about 27% compared with the same period last year, driven by new routes and carriers. Leaders say the expansion strengthens the airport’s role in supporting regional business, tourism and major events such as Notre Dame football.
