Journalists have been denied the right to know why an airport partially owned by a local council is costing taxpayers millions. Press were barred from a Gloucester City Council meeting where bosses from Gloucestershire Airport refused to answer questions in public, according to a report in Gloucestershire Live. Earlier in the meeting, it was revealed the airport, which is partially owned by the council, is set to make a £2.1m loss. Labour councillor Karen James questioned why Gloucestershire Airport Limited and the council was not making the service pay. Jeremy Hilton, leader of Gloucester City Council, said: “Gloucestershire Airport is a vital economic and aviation asset for our county and region and we must do our best for it.
