Amherst Exempted Village School District is asking voters to support Issue 16 on the Nov. 4 ballot which will provide the district with funding for daily operations. Issue 16 is a 1.5% earned income tax levy for current expenses for five years, according to the Lorain County Board of Elections. Amherst Schools Superintendent Michael Molnar said the levy is necessary after more than a decade of operating on the same revenue base. “So, for 13 years, we have tried to run the district operations off of 2012 revenue. “Out of 606 school districts in Ohio, we are 605th in total revenue,” he said.
