Carney moved to Petaluma from Berkeley with his family in 2019 and worked for multiple importers, including one in Novato. He sells wines made on a human scale and encouraging curiosity about the world of wine. “I am not afraid of – and am in fact interested in – ‘geeky’ wines that are outside of the traditional cab-pinot-chard-sauv blanc vernacular,” he proudly explained. Every Thursday night from 4-7pm Avinage hosts wine tastings with producers and distributors. Three large, evocative black and white photos adorn the walls of Avinage in different sections of the space.
