Natural Gas Futures Sway as Market Sizes Up Storage Surplus, LNG Hits and Tropical Storm Fallout

NGI’s Entropic Analytics on Friday estimated seven-day average Lower 48 demand at 114.2 Bcf/d, down from July highs north of 120 Bcf/d.
Meanwhile, LNG terminals’ weekly feedgas demand, at 17.5 Bcf/d, remained modest relative to the peak summer pace around 19 Bcf/d.
That is notable because storage is currently plump and natural gas production is choppy but strong.
The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said Thursday that operators injected 32 Bcf of natural gas into storage for the week ended July 17.
With storage stout and production ample, “the heat has to keep delivering into August or the bears have everything they need,” Hyerczyk said.
