Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) is testing shipper appetite for new Appalachian capacity with a nonbinding open season for its 219 South Project to serve rising power demand from Pennsylvania toward the Gulf Coast. TGP also is soliciting turnback capacity from existing shippers, which could reduce the amount of new construction required. Volumes could move “all the way to our Mississippi Crossing (MSX) project, and then ultimately into the Southeast,” he said. The 2.1 Bcf/d MSX project would move natural gas from Greenville, MS, to Butler, AL, feeding growing Southeast demand. “Projects will be competitive,” but KMI’s asset position across Southern Natural Gas, MSX and its 50% interest in Florida Gas Transmission “puts us in a great spot.”
