While Namibia continues to make strides in providing clean drinking water, the country is falling drastically behind on its international commitments to basic sanitation. According to Ngurare, national access to safe drinking water stands at 91.4% in most parts of the country. However, access in certain regions remains extremely low, while sanitation lags at 60%. Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister criticized internal administrative delays and warned that state performance must be measured by service delivery. “Universal water availability and safe sanitation by 2063 is not a distant aspiration; it is a call to action that begins today,” he said.
