The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) confirms that some DWI test results in Aitkin, Winona and Chippewa counties may be affected by “instances of dry gas cylinders being installed incorrectly” after a review of tests conducted by law enforcement.
The Aitkin County sheriff confirms that prosecutors have mailed “dozens” of letters to people charged with DWI, alerting them to a problem with an alcohol detecting machine.
Ramsay obtained emails from a records request showing the Minnesota BCA investigated other test results after he raised concerns.
“We sent letters to all the attorneys for the clients that were involved in these cases,” said Aitkin County Sheriff Dan Guida.
The BCA has identified 45 cases in Winona County and 13 cases in Chippewa County that may be affected.
